When she returned to Buenos Aires she began her professional music career, specializing in the contemporary repertory, notably in the productions of the Colon Theatre Experimental Centre, Buenos Aires, under the direction of composer Gerardo Gandini. She was a founding member of the ensemble Hallowe’en where she played and sang the creations of American avant-garde artists such as John Cage, Charles Ives, Morton Feldmann and world premières from young composers. Living in Europe since 1995 she studied baroque transverse flute with Wilbert Hazelzet and early music at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Jesper Christensen. Together with Pablo Valetti and Céline Frisch she is founding member of the French baroque ensemble Café Zimmermann with whom she regularly performs as a soloist. Their recordings of Bach complete instrumental pieces have been celebrated by the specialized press as the most exciting interpretations. For years she devoted herself to the study and performance of the complete sonatas for flute or violin by Johannes Mattheson, Der Brauchbare Virtuoso together with Dirk Boerner, recording the whole collection (Alpha 2003) and been awarded the best chamber music album by the BBC Music Magazine. Recently they record their first volume dedicated to Bach Flute Sonatas (Ma Recordings, 2011) Her passion for Afro-Amerindian music dates back to her Amsterdam period. She met Paraguayan harpist Lincoln Almada who encouraged her to sing again. This meeting led to the discovery and research into oral traditional music. Their first album ‘Son de los Diablos’ (Alpha 2003) was a critically acclaimed success. Invited to be “Artist in Residence” at the Espacio Infoculture in Huesca, Spain she investigated further into a new repertoire, illustrated in 'Nuevos Cantares del Peru' (Blue Art Records, 2006) and creating the Diana Baroni Trio. For their third recording 'Flor de Verano' (Pao Records 2009) Diana invited the kora player and composer Tunde Jegede. With the popular Brodsky Quartet she established an artistic collaboration to explore the repertoire rooted in afro-Hispanic traditions from the colonies in South America.
