Del Gibbons is a Scottish DJ and Producer, based in London. His previous track “Freedom” (Wez Clarke/Fonzerelli/Ctrl-S remixes) was playlisted on Ministry of Sound radio and received airplay on TIESTO’s Clublife 216, KISS 100 (Steve Smart and DJ EZ), BBC Radio 1 XTRA, RTE Pulse (Christian Homan), Hed Kandi (Des Paul), with support from Danny Howard (BBC Radio 1's Dance Anthems), Dave Pearce and many more. Most recently, Del’s official remix for Northernbeat ft. Rozalla “Are You Ready to Fly 2013” was a number 1 download on DigiDJ, and his remix of Dale Saunders (currently number 1 in the Japanese iTunes chart with Flo Rida) was well received. Del has worked on tracks on Ridney’s XTRA DRY label, (mix engineering Alex Madden’s “Epic”), and Will Clarke’s label (with the critically acclaimed house track “Vajazzle”)
“Finally" is a new take on the classic early 90’s Ce Ce Peniston track, written and produced by Scottish DJ and producer Del Gibbons. Released under his own label, this is a licensed release (under Limelight through Universal Records/Polygram) in the US and through Ditto in the UK. Production, mix engineering and recording are performed by Del Gibbons, with final mix engineering, summing and mastering by Chris Dececio (EMI / UNIVERSAL / ISLAND / PARLOPHONE/ ULTRA / SONY / WARNER / ARMADA / 3BEAT / POSITIVA / NERVOUS / TIME RECORDS / HED KANDI / STRICTLY RHYTHM / BLANCO Y NEGRO)
The unashamedly commercial house mix has a big-room piano feel, going for all out good vibes and hands in the air moments. The 2-step mix gives a nod to the UK garage genre currently experiencing something of a resurgence from its late 90’s beginnings.
The massive vocal is performed by American vocalist Racquel Roberts (erstwhile performer and additional vocalist with the grammy nominated RnB group Brownstone) and gives a real flavour of diva soul to Del's lyrics with her exquisite harmonies.
Derek moved down to London from Scotland in 1999 to study music. By the age of 17, he already had 15 Abrsm music qualifications to his name across violin and piano. He then went on to study both Honours and Masters (with commendation) degrees in music, graduating at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and giving undoubtable musicality to his productions. Since leaving university, Del has worked in Tv and media as a presenter, giving him plenty of time to hone his craft as a composer and producer. He has worked on remix and production projects for Westwood BBC Radio 1Xtra favourites Fr3e (Tribal Skank), collaborated with MC Champagne Bubblee, and has forged a close working relationship with engineer Neil Williams (Talkin' Loud, Ministry of Sound) at the Limehouse Recording Studios, London.
Collaborating with touring DJ Alex Madden on a number of projects, they released the track "Himice" under the 'Flawless Recordings' label, which included a remix from the Roger Sanchez approved Dirty Secretz, “Vajazzle” – released on Will Clarke’s label, and Derek also engineered Madden’s track “Epic” released on Ridney’s Xtra Dry Label. Derek continues to create music under the Flawless brand, which has a monthly Friday night residency a London super-club "Pacha".
Derek has even been asked by Autotune's inventor Antares to demonstrate Autotune on ProTools during the recent X-Factor Autotune debacle, firmly stamping his music technology credentials.
