denise-withnell Denise Withnell Rocky View No 44 Rose Petal Pie is the brand new CD (first ever solo CD) from Denise Withnell of Turner Valley, AB. Denise has been singing and playing guitar with David Wilkie’s Cowboy Celtic band since 1996, and continues to tour with them, mostly in the United States. Part swing, part jazz with a touch of Parisian musette, Leonard Cohen and a taste of Indonesia—it’s all held together by a sound that has been described as “new – yet familiar.” Rose Petal Pie was recorded in San Jose, California and features original songs by David Wilkie, Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, Katy Moffatt, Cindy Walker, Hugh Moffatt and Roy Forbes. Some say the CD takes them back to a time in the late ‘40s and ‘50s – but you can decide for yourself! • a French song, written in English by Katy Moffatt and translated into French • Goin’ Away Party, a song written by Cindy Walker • one of Roy Forbes’ songs (“Let Me Make It Up to You Tonight”) • a border-line country song (“I Get Lonely for You”), written by Hugh Moffatt (he wrote a hit song for Dolly Parton called “Old Flames Can’t Hold a Candle to You”) So – it’s a little swing, a little jazzy, with a touch of Parisian musette and Leonard Cohen, and a taste of Indonesia. It’s all held together by a sound that has been described as “new – yet familiar.” Some say the CD takes them back to a time in the late ‘40s and ‘50s – but you can decide for yourself! denise-withnell’s tracks Pas De Chance En Amour by denise-withnell published on 2011-05-07T23:15:20Z Rose Petal Pie by denise-withnell published on 2011-05-07T23:15:18Z Flyin', Not Fallin' In Love With You by denise-withnell published on 2011-05-07T23:15:18Z
