Lucio Tasca - An Imperfect Circle by Dejana Sekulic published on 2020-03-14T12:27:22Z An Imperfect Circle, for solo violin (2018) by Lucio Tasca "An Imperfect Circle is inspired by the painting technique of Agnes Martin, who often, before painting her meticulously constructed grids, makes the surface of the canvas rough and irregular. A similar technique seems to set a context that fosters the proliferation of small imperfections and irregularities, creating a microcosm of uncontrollable and unpredictable nuances. These nuances are what gives the painting its vitality and immersive power. I tried to capture the expressivity of these imperfections and the contemplative spirit of her paintings, by creating a musical context where unpredictable micro-nuances can proliferate." - Lucio Tasca Performed and recorded in St. Paul Hall, Huddersfield, 2019 *featured image: Agnes Martin, "The Tree" (1964) Genre Contemporary
