A drum and bass record label was created in the summer of 2013 at Glastonbury Festival, by MR:L, Millstone & Sleepylion. With the addition of Praderz and Uncloned, Deep Space Records UK became an unstoppable team of DJs, producers, a designer, film maker and promoters.
Still in our relative infancy, our focus is on showcasing talented djs and producers in podcasts and at nights hosted at festivals and clubs. Our five members use the label as a platform to promote promising new artists and educate music lovers in the ways of the sometimes misunderstood drum and bass music scene. A strong emphasis is placed on quality and diversity in the music we play, to create a vibrant and friendly atmosphere for the audience / ravers. Deep Space or DSUK has been using drum and bass music to bring people together since 2013.
The Tree House at The Park in Glastonbury festival was home for Deep Space Records UK in the early years. With appearances at the Babylon Uprising stage as well, Deep Space nights had become unmissable for those in the know. In 2013 we landed in the Town Hall at The Boomtown Fair, the worlds biggest pop up city celebrates everything from ska, reggae, dub, swing, folk and dance. Deep Space proudly hosted two nights here. 2014 through to 2015 saw DSUK move into club nights at the home of its beloved genre in Bristol. Artists showcasing their skills at these nights included Pennygiles, Phase 2, T>I, Amoss and of course the Deep Space residents.
As 2015 came smoothly to a close, Deep Space brought the graffiti art world and dnb music scene together in a charity auction in aid of mental health charity 'mind'. Art, music and fire the order of the night, raising over £1400 for this worthy cause.
2016 brought more fresh podcasts, with the likes of Al Pack and Mystic State joining the rosta of past artists - Satl, Lurch, Ben Soundscape, Toez, Modu and T>I. This year also established 'Deep Space Presents' as the leading drum and bass night in our local town of Frome. There were three Deep Space nights at Frome's new venue in this year showcasing the ever impressive Allergies and the mighty Bladerunner.
After the success of the first charity night we decided to host Creatures of Deep Space 2. Many of the same artists donated their art as well as many new ones all to be auctioned on the night. Total Science, Al Pack and Move Mode came to play for free to help boost the door takings (also donated to Mind tws). In addition to the art and music we had some live graffiti curtesy of MOA UK. We cant thank everyone involved enough for their help and support on these two fundraisers, bless you all.
After our 4th birthday party ft Superior Selections, we started to plan our favourite event so far. Deep Space Presents Randall went down just before Christmas 2017 and also featured T>I and Ben Soundscape. With over 250 people through the doors on this night, it was our first sell out after over 4 years of hard work.
So 2018 and beyond? More nights, podcasts and the 'records' in our name will finally be recognised with a planned release.
Keep it deep, keep it deep space.
