Professional DJ since 1987, now internationally acclaimed DJ, producer, remixer, promoter, radio DJ, label owner, artist manager and record reviewer for OurHouse magazine, IDM magazine and Resident Advisor.
Underground music has always been a passion for Dean Facer, initially when he was a teenager Dean would immerse himself in the soul, jazz funk and hip hop scenes via the early pirates radio stations such as Jazz FM, Solar and of course when Kiss FM was still a pirate station and then when the early house sounds starting filtering over to the UK from Chicago and New York, Dean then knew that music was his calling in life.
Dean started to DJ back in 1987, after a few years playing in London and surrounding areas he started to build up his reputation for superb mixing and excellent track selection. In 1994 he started to play the harder side of house music and quickly became a very successful Hard House DJ throughout the UK and Europe, and now plays all around the world. In 2004 he changed the style that he plays and he now concentrates on the pure underground side of House music and showing his versatility he plays everything from sultry jazzy vibes and deep house to full on tribal and tech house, minimal and techno depending on the night / festival he has been booked for and with his passion for discovering unknown artists and tracks from across the globe his sets are always fresh and exhilarating.
Dean has also promoted some of his own nights that have proved to be very successful. Nights such as the legendary “United Colors Of House” which began back in 1994 and has been re-launched as a weekly club night. Also, Syvässä a night of the best sultry deep house, and the cheekily named “Bash Yer Bishop!” as well as earlier success' with “Slamm” and “Pure House” (Co-promoted with DJ Magazine / DMC's Lewis Dene).
Radio is another area that Dean has been involved with frequently, both local and national. Dean used to do regular guest slots on “Saturday Late”- CRMK 89:8 FM and then went on to host the hugely popular "United Colors Of House" show on CRMK 89:8FM on Sunday evenings between 19:00-22:00 hrs (UK time) which is streamed on the United Colors Of House website, as well as this he guests on national stations such as Germany’s Kiss FM, Hungary’s FM Czéski, Norway's Radio Pluss, Italy's Klubb 105, Holland's Club Madnezz and Switzerland’s Radio 24.
The success of the United Colors Of House show can be seen with list of the world’s elite DJ’s that had submitted guest mixes for the last hour of the show including the likes of DJ Sneak, Sven Väth, Wally Lopez, David Duriez, Trentmøller, Josh Wink, David Guetta, Kerri Chandler, Sonny Wharton, Deepgroove, Quentin Harris, Darren Emerson through to legends of the underground house and techno scenes such as Anja Schneider, Slok, m_ferri, Dave Slide, Re-Zone, Shonky, Dan Ghenacia, Guy Gerber, David Gausa, Modunique, M.A.N.D.Y., and Jussi-Pekka Parrika
Dean has now passed the reigns of the weekly United Colors Of House over to his co-host Oz, who continues to the show in the same format every Sunday evening between 19:00-22:00hrs and Oz is now joined by Adam J, although Dean does intend getting back in the radio studio for a new weekly show very soon.
