While this is the first Dataset I have created, I think that this edition will prove to be a well-rounded one. This is primarily because I waited for years that some more titles emerged (e.g. "Railroad World Japan", from the late 1990s, or my own "Railroad Simulator", from the early 2000s), and I also received a lot of very helpful and mutually very intensive input at forums such as old-time-railscene.com, the RS group (also on the site I created for this edition), Reddit, Toggr, NESR, and many other user groups.
On the other hand, this is the first edition of this series that I have also used a proper 3D modeling application, and designing and creating all the subways and connecting wagons/baggage compartments myself. I also tried to make the game as realistic as possible, so that this edition can be used in comparisons and descriptions of the world’s subway networks. Somewhere in the future, I want also to make a similar edition with a local rail/subway network in Switzerland.
For this reason, a year has passed since this edition was created, and in that time, I have added almost 30 new routes or expansions to the subway system, plus some new features, improvements and bugfixes.
The first 15 routes are all from the US-bound end of the US Pacific Northwest to the New York-Pennsylvania border. A total of 19 routes, with 51 trains and 1,726 wagons, are based on New York’s single main underground line, and a few others on its subways.
After passing the Pennsylvania border, the further epicurean American routes go through Washington DC, Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Alaska, then along the West Coast to San Diego, and finally to Canada. Each route has two or three segments with a total of 20, 24, 23, or even 24 routes. a3f8a02ae1
