It’s that simple, and that maxim holds true for every species. Either you can change with the tides or get swept away in their wake. Either you can grow or you can stagnate. Either you can stand out or simply be another face in the crowd. With their third album, Speak No Evil, Dark Alley Murder—Denni Towle [Vocals/Lyrics] & Timmer Boex [Vocals/Lyrics] morph into the melodic nu metal machine that they’ve been moving towards since their 2009 debut, Hear No Evil. Not only is their sound bigger; it’s better. Not only has the music become more intricate; it’s become more infectious. Not only are they more direct; they’re more dangerous.
SPEAK NO EVIL
This year, the entire world will be rocking out to Dark Alley Murder’s “Speak No Evil.” So far, "I'm Already Scared (The Shagy Song)", the newest unstoppable track from the Green Bay-based duo has topped the ReverbNation charts in Northeast Wisconsin.
And Dark Alley Murder’s “I'm Already Scared” is just the opening round of Dragon and Timmer’s forthcoming full-length album, Speak No Evil (Megalodon Records).
“Speak No Evil is an evolution of sorts for DAM, not only have we changed our lineup, but now we are back to our truest form and no one can hold us down! Sorry to everyone who gets ofended by DAM this time around, but you deserved it!” explains Dragon, Dark Alley Murder’s member known for his work as frontman for The Cruciatus Curse.
Dragon’s cohort in crime, Timmer, echoes the sentiment, minus the apology.
“The past 3 years we have spent building up MegRec and it's artists and during that time we have had alot of different stuf happen to us, and it has affected our attitudes and music” says Dark Alley Murder’s lyrical wordsmith.
The duo will without question be having fun in 2013, celebrating their successes by packing bars and making crowds jump to the seriously infectious nu metal songs they have created.
“We make all kinds of records, and we’re serious about what we do,” says Timmer.
According to Dragon, the duo are more than rock/pop music creators….they are scientific spinsters of a carefully crafted soundtrack for a new generation of global party people. With Dark Alley Murder’s debut album, Hear No Evil and their full length follow-up, 2010's See No Evil, Dragon showcased a new breed of music that now appeals to music lovers worldwide.
“We’re music designers,” Dragon says.
No one can say Dark Alley Murder’s success was accidental…both men have been driven for years, and passionate about music since their early teens.
To that end, Dragon and Timmer have created an entire record of comedy-infused rock and metal for their forthcoming album, which will likely ignite people again at all points come this summer.
“We’re just getting started,” says Timmer, who is looking forward to the Dark Alley Murder’s summer 2013 MegRec Fest in Green Bay, WI.
Those unable to catch Dark Alley Murder on tour are at home hitting the replay button on their computers, watching one of the most buzzed about videos for comedy and music fans in early 2013, “I'm Already Scared.”
“That was one of the funnest videos ever,” says Timmer, who grew up in Green Bay alongside Dragon, the video was filmed at several places in and around Green Bay. “We were very inspired by ‘Thriller,’ and to have an opportunity to do something like that is amazing,” the singer said, before adding: “No one knows this about us, but we are story tellers, we write books, create movies, you name it... we can do it.”
The success of their first two albums only furthered the boys’ drive to craft epic albums, and today in the studio process, the goal is nothing less than sonic domination in bars and on the radio.
Dragon’s sweat equity behind his public party persona is paying off. The producer has several killer albums under his belt, he recently produced the songs on Caryn's new record, and his independent songs effortlessly tap into a new level of music.
“There are no rules in music,” he says of Dark Alley Murder’s unique brand of music. “It doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor… we look at it as this is just karaoke on a grand stage, and that’s all we want to do,” Dragon asserts. “Who wouldn’t want to be at a great bar signing karaoke?”
Dark Alley Murder is creating the soundtrack for your life with their music, they are dressing it with their “DAM” clothing line, and now they are planning on taking it national with their tours and epic karaoke. And come summer, Speak No Evil promises to embody everyone when it’s released as Dark Alley Murder’s next installment of their global invitation to the world to “Hear No Evil. See No Evil. Speak No Evil.”
