The Animal Town by Darius Greene published on 2012/11/08 04:35:06 +0000 This is an outcast B side from my Rabbit Ears material... - - The Animal Town At the newspaper stand, ocelots shaking hands All the owls on the trains, winter coats on their wings. With all their stripes pressed neat, all the tigers on the street, out to make another kill, with a pen to sign a deal. Sparrows flying high in their planes dreaming of their comfy beds, dinner at home with their stoned bellies fed. Aardvarks at the park, far from wolves pushing shoppinig carts, or the crocodile tears, at the movies; say the same old things; I love you all the same, have you tail or weather vane; the sweet little howls of your voice when you beg. Starlings flying high helicopters, wishing for time with their hats off, relaxing at home by a warm fire bed. Waxwings steering underground trains, wishing they’d done better things, making their lives more like their dreams.
