Film / Media work
As a composer for film and media, Danny continually collaborates with film makers and other media composers. Over the years he has composed for TV-aired Nature Documentaries, several contrasting independent films and animations screened at festivals, and a variety of mobile video games, with styles ranging from orchestral, to ragtime, to horror, electronica, and many others.
He also does 'Orchestration' and ‘Music Preparation’ on film and TV productions, assisting composers such as Isobel Waller-Bridge and Anne Nikitin, acquiring credits on productions such as ‘This Beautiful Fantastic’ and ITV's Vanity Fair.
He loves attending recording sessions, and having produced an orchestral session at Abbey Road earlier in 2018, and Music Prepped at Air Lyndhurst, Angel and Tileyard Studios, he knows how to be a useful asset to a session and help proceedings flow without stalling.
He also writes production music tracks for the ‘Soundscape’ and ‘Library of the Human Soul’ labels.
Danny often finds himself working in various other music department roles. 'Fishbowl' for example, by Requiem Pictures, had him in roles of Music Supervision and Sound Design, as well as Composition.
Composer Danny Ryan was born in 1992, and started his musical life with the saxophone at age 9, studying Jazz with former BBC Big Band First Alto, Nigel Nash.
He then began composing for his school and local Jazz ensembles whilst growing up in Gloucestershire, and broadened his style into contemporary classical music through his school composition studies, and received numerous performances around his area.

In 2018 Danny attained his masters in Composition for Screen as the Christopher Hogwood Scholar at the Royal College of Music in London.

He is the 2nd Runner-Up of the 2017 Marvin Hamlisch Film Scoring Contest, and was a finalist in the Sound Track Cologne ETC Competition 2017. He is also a winner of the 2016 SFO Composition Competition, recipient of the 2014 Grindon Dearden Prize for composition, and winner of the 2011 Thornbury Orchestra Composers’ Competition.
Concert / Arranging / Engraving Work
As a composer of concert music, he has been performed at the Bridgewater Hall, and many other venues, by groups such as GYJO, the RNCM Brand New Orchestra and New Ensemble, and has been workshopped by the likes of the Manchester Camerata, and the BBC Singers.
From 2013 to 2016, he arranged over 30 songs for the RNCM Session Orchestra, one of which was featured on CBBC television. He was also composer for the 2015 Manchester Theatre Awards Ceremony, played by the pop ensemble.
Danny also works as an engraver of concert music scores, recently engraving large scores and parts for contemporary works by composer Richard Blackford, which were performed by the likes of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, conductor Martyn Brabbins, and the Prague Philharmonic - and his type-set scores were published by Nimbus Music. He also had a role transcribing and engraving for the music educational app ‘Knowledge Rocks’, embedding scores into an interactive technological environment.
Danny is always looking into further opportunities to get involved in Film, TV, Video Game and Concert music. Danny applies his enthusiastic and diligent attitude in all the work he takes on, he loves collaborating with other creative minds, and his testimonials reflect that he is wholly conscious of the importance of showing versatility, craft, and dedication.
