Genre cycling Comment by GB Sailing I wish people would think with sound engineering principles when thinking and talking about Disk Brakes. Each braking system have advantages in their field. I am willing to discuss each here at length. However, no matter how powerful a brake is over another brake, ALL the power in the world is useless once the wheel is stopped or locked up. Once locked, if the machine is still moving you are sliding. Not a good place to be in on two wheels. Which is why ALL motorised transport forms now have anti-lock brakes. Rim brakes enjoy a mechanical advantage over disk brakes, but few manufacturers provide quality brake blocks to take advantage of this fact. Disk brakes can enjoy a power advantage if manufactured correctly. I would rather see manufacturers work on anti-locking systems that promote rider safety. 2015-04-19T11:10:42Z Comment by BlueBack I have hydraulic disc brakes on my commuter for the wet. Huge difference particularly in an emergency. For weekend riding and racing, discs def not required. 2015-04-17T13:08:49Z
