At 23 years old, Cullen Blue is a striving and hopeful musical artist/songwriter who enjoys nothing more than self-expression through song.
From being a young boy born in Detroit in 1990, to a Rock-music-loving father and a Pop-listening mother, to moving to Dearborn Heights at the age of 5, Micheal Robert Castano Jr.'s musical base stretched from The Beatles to Bach, Selena to Celine Dion, and Boys II Men to Mariah Carey. Eventually relocating with his grandparents (his Mom and Dad) in 1998, his love for Beethoven and Mozart translated into a deeper curiosity to take the piano seriously in terms of playing classical pieces for enjoyment, and would soon be grounds for songwriting in 2001.
During High School, from 2004 to 2008, Micheal's transformation slowly eased as his Hip Hop and Rap influences began to peak into his compositions through beats and percussion as well as electronics and effects admiration from the Electronic and Techno classes. Piano ballads with thunder in the background and Hispanic-electronic percussion pieces with harpsichords fused genres.
As college education impacted all areas of life for Micheal, music changed as well. It seemed Micheal's transcendence into a new stage in his life as Cullen brought out deeper but yet even more positive messages and compositions in his collection of songs, from "Rex Tremendae" and "I'm Not That Boy" in 2009. Cullen then disciplined himself with a classical template of doing at least one song in each major and minor chord of the scales in a Tarot Series, branching off with uploads of "Chariot", "The Lovers", and "Tie Me Down" in 2010.
Cullen Blue was born as a fun, more outspoken, yet honest, upfront, and colorful individual. With the My World set, that colorful individual wrote pieces from March to September of 2011, uploading every other week at a time a new piece, a new color vibe, a new mood of music, from "My World" to "Micheal" to "But", and eventually "Rise" and "DICK" in 2012.
Cullen's craft is just starting. The journey of young adulthood to stability is what drives this young man to feel every note he sings, every beat he arranges, and every accompaniment he mixes. Cullen Blue is continuing to work on new music, new messages, and translating love in as many ways musically as he possibly can.
