Music is in my blood. My father was a versitile musician with an array of instruments at my disposal including audio equipment, out of everything, all the instruments I had to chose from to learn , I chose the "turntable". I remember my father had a turntable hooked up into a small guitar amp were I would listen to his collection of 45 rpm records till I fell asleep. From blues, disco,R&B, country and even conjunto I remember stopping the record with one hand while it was playing and it made a weird noise and yet, it was music to my ears. I didn't know what I had stumble on, but I was always intrigued and fascinated how music could be ingraved onto these wax vinyl's and how they could played on a turntable and bring joy to us all. In 1985 I attended a dance at a local teen club in the deep southside of San Antonio where groups of all sorts of rappers, Dj's and dancers would come together to do battle. This is where I discovered I had a passion for the art of mixing. I remember seeing a dj cutting and scratching and it hit me. That was the same noise I had heard when I was playing my father's 45's and I would stop them and play them backwards and forward. From that day on I new that I wanted to be a DJ. I started listening to rap, and dance and old school electronic music. My influences ranging from Kraftwerk, The Egyptian Lover, The World Class Wreckin Crew , Pretty Tony, Giggalo Tony, Rodney O, Dj Jazzy Jeff, all had produced sounds that would set a mark and would be sampled for years to come.
Over the years I started playing local parties. I had also developed an encyclopedic library of beats and rythms in my head. I used this knowledge to excite my crowds into frenzy. Originally hailing from backyard parties and school dances I found myself wanting to indulge in the club scene. I wanted to experience the vibe. The lights, the thousands of watts of sound, smoke filled room, bodies sweating on dance floor was irrestistable. I started evolving into a different Dj. I started listening to the likes of Dj Dan, Bad Boy Bill, Roger Sanchez and wanted this style. House music changed me forever. House music is my passion.
