@madison-alexander-moore stream was exactly what we needed for Community Bread 28 hr NYE livestream fundraiser ⚡️ Powerful, dynamic, and so so fierce from the beginning to end, he had all our audiences mesmerized, especially by the incredible immersive visuals he made himself. A high-octane set through and through, we’re not going to describe genres, but let’s just say we had no idea how you could pack so much joy, beauty, darkness, humor, nostalgia, history and opulence into a 1 hr set. We’re watching this on repeat (not just for that WAP moment which is obviously epic), but because this stream is genius on so so many levels.
Madison Moore wears many hats - a Cultural Critic, DJ, Assistant Professor for Queer studies at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond & former architect of iconic queer London event series Opulence. But It’s become clear that whatever Moore endeavors to do, he imbues these projects with the authenticity of his lived experience, academic expertise and passion for melding together the worlds of techno, aesthetics and nightlife. And by bringing together these worlds, there is an underlying mission to uplift artists of color, and shine a light on the the queer, femme & trans experience. Something that @community.bread is very much aligned with.
We are obsessed with his book ‘Fabulous: The Rise of The Beautiful Eccentric,’ which is a compelling piece of pop queer theory that takes you on a journey through vogue balls, instagram, nightclubs & street fashion. When all is said and done, ‘Fabulous’ is about how marginalized people turn pain and struggle into opulence.
We are so grateful to have the brilliant Madison Moore onboard, with this audio/visual set sending us into 2021.
Community Bread is a queer-owned livestream & resource platform connecting audiences around the world with marginalized artists so they can easily receive donations to offset economic hardship during this global pandemic.
We offer resources on how to donate, action and support the Black Lives Matter movement as well as info on how to apply for government grants and emergency funding for artists. CB also features a schedule of queer-focused digital events and a global directory of collectives that have been elevating their local marginalized communities.
With every curated livestream, we focus on raising money for the artists as well as an organization fighting for social, political & economic justice for marginalized communities, such as The Trans Women of Color Collective, G.L.I.T.S. & ORAM.
We have a growing roster of queer collectives that have made an impact on their local communities including Honcho Herrensauna, Mala Junta, BOUND, Bushwig, Large Marge, The Carry Nation,, Black Hole, Eternal Dragonz, FIST, Floorgasm, ALT, Visceral, Video Club, Bubble T, Bulto, Apocalypse Tonight, Pure Immanence, Intimas.
