Music has always been in the life of codeBLUE. With his father being in bands his whole life and an extensive collection of both classics and modern styles, it was destiny for codeBLUE to find his sound.
codeBLUE initially started out making hip-hop music in 2004 with another friend of his, named Lil JJ. During that time, the two wrote and produced two albums, 'State of the Truth' and 'World of Fake'. Shortly after their short-lived partnership, the group fell apart, but that didn't stop codeBLUE from continuing his musical journey. After the falling out, codeBLUE turned his attention to creating another hip-hop album, with just himself rapping. Called 'Autumn', this album was a big departure from the previous work featuring Lil JJ. 'Autumn' had a much darker tone to it, and featured dark themes and even screaming during some songs, which led to the album being called almost "Emo-Rap".
After "Autumn", music was put on the back burner for codeBLUE. It wasn't until 2012, when he heard of a new trend in music called dubstep, that he decided to try something new. He had always had a passion for techno, but it wasn't until the rising trend in dubstep did he decide to dive into it. Firing up his computer and doing some training sessions and music theory lessons, codeBLUE was hooked on music once again.
In 2012, codeBLUE released his first album, titled "Frequency". This album was extremely rough, both melodically and fundamentally. It was also produced using mainly samples, and that bothered codeBLUE, as it wasn't his own personal music. After the release of "Frequency", codeBLUE was hooked on production. Teaching himself music theory, composition, and digital production techniques, he focused harder and produced his second album, titled "Fractals", that same year. This album was quite a bit different than his first, incorporating a lot of trance and dub into the tracks.
After "Fractals" was released, codeBLUE then focused on fine-tuning his knowledge, and began focusing on mixing skills. Once he started to see his mistakes, he started correcting them, and released the single "Phantasm". This was the first house track he had produced, and it was met with fantastic praise. Subsequently, he then released 4 more tracks, some rough copies, some full songs, and compiled them into a mix known as simply "The Singles".
Now codeBLUE has went back into the studio, however taking a more relaxed approach to production. The upcoming album "The Menagerie" is surely to be his best yet, with one of the tracks, "Composure", already being released on iTunes and Beatport on January 9, 2014 via Break Through Records. "The Menagerie" will be released Summer 2014.
