CdA School District Trustees Discuss Booster Fund Escrow Accounts by Christa Hazel published on 2013/05/20 04:03:11 +0000 The attached audio file is from the March 4, 2013, meeting where CdA School Board Trustees gave direction to the administration to come up with a "philanthropy management system" in our booster funds. This is the discussion that is referenced in the March 4 meeting minutes posted online with CdA School District. It contains a conversation prompted by Trustee Brent Regan with COO Wendell Wardell, Superintendent Hazel Bauman, Trustees Jim Hightower and Ann Seddon. This is from an audio CD of the meeting purchased from the school district. This meeting was open to the public and it also aired on Channel 19. Brent Regan stated, "Parents want to make generous contributions on programs and then there's some implied or understood quid pro quo there that ends up causing problems. Is there any way that we can isolate that with like a, um, escrow kind of account where they can make a donation to this blind account and from there it goes out so that there's no direct connection between the parent and the actual activity? They can make a direct contribution but their name gets stripped off of it as it moves through the system. . . ."
