Who Is Chris P?
Chris P is an artist from the southwest side of Houston, Texas. A published poet, respected songwriter, and innovative rapper; his music has been described as both “original” and “inspiring”.
Turntable legend DJ Chill calls Chris P “a true artist”, and Grammy award winning producer Jason ‘JP’ Perry refers to Chris P as “one of the most talented writers (he has) worked with.”
For the past few years, Chris P has been working with the homeless, mentally ill, and the less fortunate; and that work inspired his latest single, ‘Killin Me’. The song was influenced by his experiences with AIDS/HIV patients. Matt Sonzala, respected journalist and radio host, calls the song “really powerful… and much needed”.
Chris P has been recording and performing for years, both solo and with his group, the ‘SouthSiders’. This group also includes his longtime friends, Mr. 2-11, and Platnum Black. They have dropped numerous mix tapes together, and following Platnum Black’s release from prison, they released their first studio album titled ‘COMEBACK’.
Chris P and the SouthSiders’ official Youtube channel, www.youtube.com/banksidemf has more than 200,000 views and they have continued to increase their presence on the Internet through sites like Twitter, Facebook and more.
Chris P and the SouthSiders have also gained exposure through local radio and television programs. Chris P has often been heard interviewing on Damage Control, 90.1 FM, and has also been featured prominently on TakeOver TV, a local television show dedicated to urban music. Strilla, from TakeOver TV, described their music as “gritty with an edge, but also conscious with a message.”
Currently, Chris P is lead designer for his clothing line, and prints with the legendary DJ Chill. He is also doing graphics for many local, national and international celebrities. Go to www.ChillTeesHouston.com for more info.
