Can't wait to hear it after the final mastering! One thought though, as pointed out by a few others.. synth drums! The GM drums used here (and in the 90s compilation) are ok, but synth drums would really take it up to the dancing level! Ok, I that might probably spark a "spacesynth/italodisco" debate, but it would be really interesting if Chris could write up his general thoughts about percussion (as well as instrument choices, synths used etc) in regards to this project. I listend to it again over my car stereo during midday break (still have to try it on my THX Ultra 2 7.2 System at home tonight) and at least the bass power and "pressure volume" are FAR better than those of the tracks on the previous CD from the 90s (which sounded kind of weak)! Played with the right amount of volume (I mean LOUD), it sounds quite cool, at least I like it now, but would still prefer different instrumentation for the other tracks and an overall more "epic" mix, if you know what I mean. But I'm sure Chris will find the right balance once he's deep into the project. Das Ziel bei diesem Projekt ist es doch den Turrican Soundtrack unter modernen Bedingungen neu aufzulegen, nicht zu remixen, zu erweitern, komplett neu zu erfinden, oder da eine Hammer Dancefloor Nummer draus zu machen. Ich zumindest habe nichts anderes erwartet. Ich finde dieser Song ist schön nahe am Original geblieben und hat trotzdem neue Elemente die mir sehr gut gefallen. Die Instrumenauswahl ist sehr schön, die Melodie ist auch nach so vielen Jahren ein absoluter Ohrwurm und erzeugt gute Laune. Obwohl ich zugeben muss, dass meiner Meinung der Nachteil des Amigas gleichzeitig ein Vorteil war, da durch die wenigen Bits der Sound im Original etwas agressiver war. Vielleicht könnte man da mit einem Bitcrusher noch mehr Charakter reinbringen? So oder so - ich bin begeistert und höre den Song schon den ganzen Tag in Schleife. Das ist Chris sein Baby und somit auch seine Sache was er daraus macht - lasst ihn einfach machen. Ich bin sicher das Endergebnis wird ein Genuß. Ich für meinen Teil freue mich, dass dieses Projekt zum Leben erweckt wurde, denn mir liegt das sehr am Herzen. Chris - lass Dich nicht von anders lautenden Meinungen verunsichern! But I have to agree with some of the other guys here, I was hoping for a bit more "progressive" interpretation of these tunes. I liked the way you used more heavier drums in your album "Number Nine"; maybe this would be a good enhancement for these classical T2 tracks, too. Chris, ich bin höchst wahrscheinlich nicht Dein allergrößter Fan, aber Dein Werk zu Turrican habe ich von Herzen gliebt und Dich dafür, dass Du es geschaffen hast. Ich habe nun gedacht, Dein Sound wäre in der Zwischenzeit vielleicht "gereift" und ein wenig "erwachsener" geworden. Das Lied klingt aber viel zu verspielt, und "klassischer Synthie-Sound" hin oder her, Dein Stil - sofern man dieses Lied hier exemplarisch für das Gesamtwerk nehmen möchte - klingt zu künstlich (meine subjektive Meinung). Das passt wahrscheinlich gut zu Turrican und der überwiegende Teil Deiner Fans wird Dich dafür lieben, ich im Speziellen jedoch hatte gehofft, Du hättest Dich weiter entwickelt, und mit dem neuen Turrican Soundtrack erwartet mich ein "echtes neues" Klangerlebnis, eine ernstzunehmende, erwachsene Musikerfahrung, die mit Herzblut und Begeisterung Altes mit Neuem vermischt und hieraus etwas Unvergessliches erschafft. Was Du hier abgeliefert hast, ist gut, keine Frage. Aber es ist im Grunde nur "mehr vom Alten". Ich wünschte, es wäre ein wenig mehr von Michael McCann in Deiner Musik, alter Freund. The guitar works really well during the end part, I like it. Martin, being the Turrican Soundtrack Anthology, I'd expect all tracks to be like this, close to 1:1 with the original with some extras.
