Cara Haxo Cleveland, OH Described as “movingly lyrical” (Avant Music News) and “quirky but attractive” (The Art Music Lounge), the music of Cara Haxo incorporates stories, poetry, and artwork. Haxo’s awards include the IAWM Libby Larsen and Ellen Taaffe Zwilich Prizes and the NFMC Young Composers Award. She has received commissions from the International Contemporary Ensemble, Quince Ensemble, Splinter Reeds, and the PRISM Quartet. Haxo holds degrees from the University of Oregon, Butler University, and The College of Wooster. She is an Adjunct Instructor of Composition at Notre Dame College and an Academic Dean and faculty member for The Walden School Young Musicians Program.
