Celeste Lear, Music Producer & DJ
San Francisco/Venice Beach/Topanga
With an exciting and productive 12 year ride as a hard working professional electronic music producer, DJ, record label/studio owner and vocalist/multi instrumentalist under her belt and a definite knack for batting out track after track of sophisticated and cutting edge music, Celeste Lear is a truly tenacious and visionary artist of the digital age with an unquenchable thirst to create inspiring and groundbreaking new music to inspire her listeners with. Possessing a penchant for writing music that combines elements of EDM with jazz and pop, trip hop, downtempo and dub, this modern day singer songwriter creatively fuses together unique melodies, quirky, hard hitting drum loops, and luscious sonic layering with her personally reflective lyrics in music that has been likened to: Moby, Imogene Heap, Little Dragon, Chet Faker, Pretty Lights, Massive Attack, Zero 7, Bonobo, Thievery Corporation, Etc.
Of the same jet set clan as her high flying grandfather William P. Lear (who was also invented the 8-track cassette of the 60's) Celeste continues on the family's tradition of hard work, creative vision and a bit of flashy show off just for good measure. "It would only seem fitting that the granddaughter of the inventor of the 8-Track cassette would have music in her genes." (Editor, Reno Gazette Journal). After extensive music studies in Northern California and achieving a degree in sound engineering from S.F.S.U., she relocated back to LA and has since worked to achieve an impressive set of career highlights that truly reflects today's modern female in the music industry such as: The opening of her own independent label "Boutique Electronique Records" in 2006, self producing, releasing and marketing 3 solo Albums ("The Echo Inside", "Looking Up From Underwater" and "Cloud 9.1") and 2 compilation CDs (Digital Bliss Volumes 1 and 2 - featuring strictly female talent from the electronic music world).
Celeste recently had her song "Looking top from Underwater" on Fox's smash hit show "So You Think You Can Dance", her song "Ilha Grande" on Sony Networks' tv show "Unforgettable" along with many recent song placements on VHI, Discovery Channel andHistory channel.
Over the past 3 years, Lear has performed extensive work as a remix artist and has worked with such artists as; Natasha Beddingfield, Alan Attias, Rena Jones, Shannon Hurley and Artemis. She has had song placement on 10 different compilation CDs including "Femmes Fatales" alongside greats Jan Johnston and Collette. She has most recently collaborated with producer Carmen Rizzo on a remix of her drum & bass track "Catch the Sun" and is gigging and frequently tours with a 3 piece "Live" electronica band.
All this plus she is 90% deaf in her right ear from a car accident she endured when she was 16... not bad for a petite, classy, sassy one ear sound engineer! Stay tuned for more adventures with Celeste "One Ear" Lear.
