We wouldn’t blame you for assuming Caseno was born under a coconut tree somewhere on a sub-tropical island rather than the quaint city that is Melbourne. While the duo of Harris Robotis and Ric Sciarpa are no strangers to the
art of genre-hopping, their production is reminiscent of the sort of sweet undertones that carry you away to a place that knows no winter. As one of Australia’s most sought after producers and DJ’s for the better part of the decade, Harris has been a busy little robotic bee. His solo career on Sweat It Out! has seen his magical remixing skills, deep original production and tousled hair grow into an unstoppable supremacy. With a damn impressive repertoire, he’s collaborated on songs with Greenskeepers, Chris Holmes (Ashtar Command / keys Smashing Pumpkins), DJ’d alongside royalty such a Alan Braxe, Boysnoize, Sven Vath, Justice, The Rapture, Foals and Tiga just to scratch the surface, so it’s no surprise that he would bring his finicky production skills to the table when Caseno is concerned.
Enter Ric. Basically a boy-genius-rainman type when it comes to instruments and ex member of the discoesque outfit We:Are:Fans. Like Harris, Ric is an accomplished bassist and guitarist although, is also prone to whip out a drum solo that will melt faces, bust out the jews harp, sax, keys, trumpet and trust us.. the list goes on. Well versed in the art that is noise this man’s production knows no bounds. In a serendipitous twist of fate the pair met in 2008 in one of Melbourne’s very many cafes. Bonding over their apparent love of music and hot beverages a few years later, Caseno was crafted. After a very well received first debut EP in 2013, Caseno has since evolved into a sound that is virtually limitless and label-less.Officially remixing in the deepest of ways for Thrillionaire (Henrietta Tiefenthaler, Jen Turner of Here We Go Magic, Joey Waronker Atoms For Peace), James Curd, Rüfüs and Parachute Youth, the guys are racking up a nice little festival portfolio, which sees the likes of Parklife, Future Music Festival, Good Vibes, and Kubik Melbourne, Caseno prove to be some seriously accomplished musicians touring with their 4-piece live act when the stage allows for it, and when it doesn’t; a top-notch DJ act.
On the heels of their sundrenched single Sebatian, Caseno is set to release a second single early 2014 with an album due later in the year which promises to be the soundtrack to your summer; and if the weather’s not hot, it’ll make you wish it was.
