First time this is available digitally, free download for a limited time only, folks!
The first time I heard Sivuca's amazing version of "Ain't No Sunshine" was around '89; acid house was all the rage and, quite frankly, pissing me off a little bit, so we decided to organise a rave of our own. One where you could hear all sorts of sounds. Case in point, the DJ dropped the Sivuca bomb at about six in the morning, the sweat was crawling up the walls and people started peeling off their shirts. It just blew everyone's minds. Then the police turned up. Luckily though, it was just some coppers coming off the night-shift and wanting a beer so we let them in and carried on.
But I never forgot that moment and recently I decided that I really wanted to do a tribute to that great man and his band, of which this was the result.
This is track A1 of a 12" vinyl-only release out on Kat Records.
Mastering by Ebony Cuts.

Dj Ease, Nightmares on Wax [UK] - Totally loving these...
Michael Rutten, Soul Searching [Germany] - Mos def going for the Latin twists here, two for the summer, and winter, and spring, and yes, autumn, why not?
Danielle Moore, Crazy P [UK] - WOW INDEED&rt; Red Hott my fave . Thats how I like my funk. Deep, industrially deep even! Synthed out of its face. Heavy bass that makes you want to dance in the doctors waiting room. Great package... thank you xxx
Jeremy Sole - KCRW / theLIFT - Los Angeles [USA] Played "Ain't No Sunshine" on my show last week. Love it!
Simon Harrison, Basic Soul Radio [UK] - Damn these mixes are fantastic - my fave so far is Ain't No sunshine which will feature on next week's show!!
Leftside Wobble [UK] - Stella release. From a personal perspective it's great to see KAT back to it's roots of quirky leftfield jazz-dance numbers and underground soulful funk. Real quality across all three cuts.
Andy Wilson, Sonica Radio [Ibiza] - I wondered what happened to Casbah 73, I used to play his Lovemonk LP a lot. Sivuca is an old favourite and the Manfredo Fest track is amazing, love it. Played it on my show this week, another quality selection, thanks!
Graeme Park [UK] - Love these tracks... Especially Big Fat Bottom.
Richard Rogers / Black Booby [UK] - Redd Hott - Big Fat Bottom (Casbah 73 Edit) - Big slapping arse style edit that fits quite nicely into the BB sound, My ass is shaking all over the place just thinking about it! Sivuca - Aint No Sunshine (Casbah 73 Rework 2013) - My fav on the EP, beautiful intro and blissful percussion, has been treated with love
Bobby Beige, Garden Festival Resident [Croatia] - Casbah 73 edits show us some seriously good cut up Latin funk bombs. Manfredo takes us into carnival territory with it's big brass licks, whilst Red Hott gives us some Trouble Funk style rhythms and cut up samples. Sivuca rounds things off nicely with it's nice slowed down part before kicking back in again full tilt. Full Support,
Mark Milz, Radio Corax [Germany] - Essential stuff...really feelin' the "Big Fat Bottom edit" !!!
Dj Kwak, Strictly Niceness [Brussels] - Jungle Kitten Is just plain ridiculously good ... Aired upon arrival in the show tonight!!
Abe Borgman, Pura Sonica Radio [Costa Rica] Aint no Sunshine is a great and happy track....tropical feelings makes it lovely....I´ll play it !
