Bryniau Pennsylvania / Elen by Carwyn Tywyn

This track was composed in 2014 during a family trip to the Appalachian mountain region of Pennsylvania, and makes a number of musical linkages It was originally intended as a quick little country ditty of the Pennsylvania hillsides. However, the composition became much deeper during production, The tune was slowed down and elongated, and then weaved in with the Welsh traditional tune "Elen" - a little nod to the historic links between Pennsylvania and Wales. Synth (Geraint Cynan) and Guitar (Joe Alexander) were added - with the deliberate intention of emulating the sound of two of my favourite musicians, Bruce Hornsby and Mark Knopfler.
