Mixtress Uk has been djing for over ten years, her father, dj and club owner Count Suckle (one of the Founders of the Sound) and owner of the famous queue club that played host to Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, The Rolling Stones and many more had a huge impact on her life, so it was inevitable that she would follow in her fathers footsteps.
In 2000 Mixtress bought a set of decks and became the protégé of DJ Mark One Uk (Northwest Mixing Champion 1991, 1992, 1993 & 1995, Texas scratch tour Dj and remixer for DMC)
Under Marks direction Mixtress learnt the art of mixing and the craft of becoming a Dj. In 2001 Mixtress made regular appearances at Rhythm & Beauty, I Love RnB, Soulified in Manchester with Residencies at M Two, Baby Grand, Elementals, Revolution, Bar B@se Bolton and The Old Monk. By 2003 Mixtress was playing in the Selfridges stores Manchester and Trafford every weekend and became the resident Dj at Selfridges private customer parties and fashion shows. Mixtress also went on to represent Selfridges in The City Life Dj competition 2004 which she went on to win.
Mixtress took to the decks for Manchester Fashion designer Shaya at Bar below and has played for Nell McAndrew and athlete Dian Modhal.
In 2005 Mixtress had her own radio show on a community radio station in her home town called Street Beatz and also became a music workshop provider offering young people the opportunity to get involved in a range of music activities i.e. djing, music production, lyric writing and vjing.
After taking some time away from Djing to concentrate on her law degree, Mixtress picked up the headphones once more. Mixtress UK's musical genres had expanded and she now though still loving rnb, soul and hip hop. Moved into genres of house, deep house, hed Kandi and break beat.
Mixtress Uk is one of the founders of Breaks Plus More (Bpm events) which is an independent innovative promotions company, set up to provide music events that offer the discerning clubber definitive sounds within Manchester. Mixtress UK currently plays at all BPM Events and has brought artists such as Napt, Dawn Raid, Pyramid, Altered States & Afghan Headspin to play at theses events.
