Caleb Roche has been into music since he could remember. He grew up like most kids skateboarding, playing in bands, and learning about music. He moved to the city with his dad in his early teens and quickly became part of the underground music scene. After throwing and attending parties in high school, Caleb began playing in various local bands, and learning almost any instrument that would come his way. In high school, this musician really started becoming a sound engineer as well. He began to record music in his parents basement on a four track tape recorder. Luckily, his mother was very patient with all of the noise around the house, and this helped him get his music career going early on. By age 21, he began DJing in Chicago and rose up in the scene quickly because he also produced beats. He began rubbing elbows with some of the biggest names in house music, and always went out of his way to get the most from this environment that was so rich in hip hop and house. Caleb’s sound aims to be a fresh blend of funk, old school, house, jack, and much more. He knows that all people were born to stand out and that the best possible person you could be is yourself. This sort of authenticity is apparent in his music also. His music is real, his music is Chicago.
Caleb knows that no matter where his art takes him, he has a responsibility to share his enthusiasm for Chicago house with everyone he meets. This is the commitment that keeps him striving to work on new collaborations and projects. Most of the production takes place using Reason, but Caleb refuses to limit himself simply to software instruments. Being a multi-instrumentalist, he has a lot to bring to the table in the studio; a sacred place to Caleb Roche. It is here where he spends so much of his free time creating, editing, mixing, and just getting away from day to day reality. That kind of energy radiates in all of his mixes. Currently, he is working at Rodan! an Asian Fusion lounge in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. Here, he started a Saturday daytime party called Retox where he can put his talents to use and connect with his audience on a spiritual level, thus fulfilling the purpose of his music.
