Make More Money by Brett Handersohn published on 2014-01-27T20:04:22Z I was feeling fed up. There were pictures and sounds, colors and movement, big letters and exclamation marks. My senses was being bombarded and stimulated. I felt an urge to reach for my wallet. The public space has been under siege for as long as I’ve been alive. The message to consume is omnipresent. Somewhere in the back there are shareholders, owners, investors with the goal of making more money. The way they go about it, I thought as my hand went in to my pocket in search of my wallet, is to make us believe that we are missing something; looks, status, love, happiness. As I looked around I could see that there’s a great deal of creative effort invested in getting this message across. There are superficial variations on the theme and some obvious showmanship involved from time to time. But underneath it all there is the same, repeating, monotonous drive to Make More Money. At times there is the impression of novelty and freshness but it soon returns to the same beat and recognizable old theme. After this brief moment of clarity I started to feel a bit annoyed and bored. All these incarnations of the same underlying imperative felt transformed, I could now observe them in a, for me, new light. So I observed and then i made a song about it. I hope you enjoy it.
