Brave Song Circle (BSC) is Dustin Morris and Lauren Gale being multi-instrumental and spreading love through music. Their harmonies are full, their instruments are plentiful, and their spirits are alive. They came together through Dustin's full band project, Dustin Morris and the Songbird. While rehearsing for a gig, Dustin and Lauren decided to share some songs. They quickly realized playing together was super awesome and decided to take it more seriously. Self described as “when the Flaming Lips meet the Mamas and Papas and have a boisterous love child with an orchestral mind”, they are emotional psychedelic folk.
Dustin is a Colorado transplant from Texas. He has been fortunate to be around music all of his life and picked many instruments along the way. Starting with singing, he moved on to the Trumpet, Drums, and Guitar by the age of 12. Recently, the Mandolin and Harmonica have become a daily ritual. Dustin studied Opera and Vocal Jazz in college. It was there that he found a second home on stage. Many years later Dustin became the "go to" utility player for multiple working bands in Dallas. In 2007, Dustin released Balance. This versatile, solo debut (was written, performed, recorded and mixed at home on Garage Band) gained national press and consistent local airplay. Other projects Dustin has been a part of include Until They Arrive, an artsy hard rock band that toured nationally and earned regional airplay; Mister Greenstar, Jones, Paul Renna, Greater Fiction and the Dustin Morris Show. He has opened up for Alpha Rev, The Smithereens and Reverend Horton Heat. He truly feels that everything he's done has lead him to BSC for a reason. Dustin is ecstatic to share the stage, his soul and career with the talented Lauren Gale.
Lauren is a native Coloradan. She bounced from instrument to instrument from age seven through high school, playing alto sax and percussion primarily. She picked up bass when she was 14, a guitar when she was 17 and finally a drum set when she was 19. She went to University of Colorado Denver for Music Industry Studies knowing that Music, in some fashion, would be her career. She met the owner of a Littleton rock band school called Band Dynamics while at UCD. Since 2010 she has been teaching a handful of instruments and producing rock bands for kids ages 5 to 18. Her past projects include Speakeasy Tiger, a pop rock band whose accolades include playing the Monolith Festival at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and nationally on Vans Warped Tour from Ventura, CA to Indianapolis. They played with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Passion Pit, The Casualities, All American Rejects and many more. She also played with Monroe Monroe, an alternative rock band who played with Third Eye Blind and INXS. She played bass and sang background vocals in both of these groups. She is excited to showcase her voice and musicianship in BSC. This is the most genuine, true-to-the-soul project she has ever been in and she is buzzing to share the stage with such a fine man and musician as Dustin.
