2012-08-04 No. 1 The Enigma by BradStark published on 2012-08-05T04:01:11Z Live piano improvisations recorded and improvised on a Yamaha grand piano by Brad Stark. My piano improvisations range in style from classical to early 20th century, to more contemporary harmonic styles. In developing my improvisations I usually begin by creating a short intro section of music which captures my interest and I wish to develop further. This usually becomes the basis for the improvisation but I use different techniques such as variation, development, and structure to help create a satisfying improvisation. I rely on my knowledge and understanding of harmony, counterpoint, form, piano technique, inspiration, and most importantly, my inner ear to help develop my improvisations into musical works that attempt to approach the ideal of a finished composition.
