Louis Anthony deLise Philadelphia Louis Anthony deLise studied jazz drumming as a youngster and taught himself to play the piano by making up tunes and reading through “fake books” at the family spinet. His formal studies in composition and percussion began at Temple University in Philadelphia where he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in composition at the Boyer College of Music and Dance. While an undergraduate, deLise wrote the theme for a local Philadelphia television program and achieved his first Billboard “Pick Hit.” His concert music for choirs and instrumentalists is performed often and is available in print from Metropolis Music Publishers, Belgium, and Alry Publications, LLC, Seattle. He is the author of The Contemporary Minstrel: Songwriting, Recording and Making Money with Your Music, a textbook on songwriting. deLise has produced, arranged and conducted for pop and concert music recordings released on many labels, including EMI, Vanguard, Def-Jam, Centaur, SoulJazz, EM, BBE, Mercury and CBS records. He arranged and conducted for Patti LaBelle’s top 20 album, Timeless Journey and her number one hit, The Gospel According to Patti LaBelle.
