Leaving America by Bob MacKenzie published on 2018-09-25T15:11:53Z Many Americans were opposed to America's war in Vietnam and protested it in various ways, including demonstrations in the streets, articles published deploring the war and more. Young men, either with their names coming up in the draft or faced with a second term in 'Nam, left for another country, usually Canada. I knew then and know now, quite a few of these men. Based on conversations with some of them over a lifetime, this poem is written in their collective voice as I hear it.
