Minsk metal band «Beyond the Darkness» settled its first official line-up in 2007. The history of the band is similar to the history of many underground projects in the former Soviet space: first recordings and performances, leapfrog of line-ups and style changes, difficulties and success. Initially, the group was conceived as death-thrash, but quickly went to death-doom, after that some time the group was experimenting with symphony death-doom and released its EP «Cunabula» in 2009. Now the musicians consider their style as death-doom again pointing that they would not like to become its hostages. For the band music is primarily a means of self expression, and that’s why «Beyond the Darkness» is trying to create a versatile material, without reference to any stamps. The music of the band nowadays can be described as heavy, mid-tempo and melodic. Preparation of the first full-length album started back in 2012. The single «Fears Face» was recorded and released, but due to the problems with the line-up the work on the album was frozen until 2014, when it began to boil with a vengeance. By the time the band found itself and stood on its feet. The mistake was the try to record everything on their own, in the end the musicians had to face poor quality of sound. After that «Beyond the Darkness» made a wise decision to go to the professional studio of Dmitry Mikulich and start to work on a recording from the beginning. At the end of 2014 the single «Payback» was released. In 2015 the second single «Empty Church» was born. Now the debut album titled «Blind Shadows» is finally ready to be presented to the public. The musicians of «Beyond the Darkness» aim to do what will be close to themselves and what will profoundly affect the listener; to create works that will be interesting to listen and, the most important, listen again and again to find out more details. So the album «Blind Shadows» may disappoint the fans of heavy metal. The album will certainly please those who like complex and diverse music.
