Bernard Brogue Bernard Brogue Apeldoorn Bernard Brogue is a singer/songwriter, reminiscent of John Martyn, Nick Drake and Bruce Cockburn. He performs both solo and with his band with Michael Gustorff on fretless bass and Inigo Grimbergen on drums and percussion. His music is a mixture of Celtic jazz melodies and contemporary lyrics that combine to allow us the opportunity to explore the many roads into his wandering heart. He is a frequent visitor of Scotland, being warmly received during The Edinburgh Festival '97. In 1996 his song 'Down River', later to appear on his debut album 'Birdwatching' has been voted second in a very high standard singer-songwriters contest at the Edinburgh International Festival. This achievement brings him to London where he does a small but successful solo tour (Bunjies,The 12 Bar). September 2006 he releases his second CD 'Escape the day’ and the single ' Not before Christmas' . This single has been broadcasted on several Dutch radiostations and the Dutch National World Service Radio. Recently he has released his new album ' Trick of light' . The CD has a romantic vibe and tells about lust and illusion (the title track), loss (Forever anywhere, dedicated to a deceased friend) and of course love (the bitter song You've ruïned my heart, Mourning flight), In the meantime Bernard tours both solo and with his band in the Netherlands, Scotland and Germany.
