Bells of Scotland Jim Pritchard Edinburgh Hello and welcome to the Bells of Scotland web resource, which at this point is hosted through Soundcloud. The purpose of Bells of Scotland is to map the communities of Scotland, through the sounds of their bells. Within a community the sound of a bell can make someone feel a sense of place and a collection of such sounds could create a collective sense of home for many people. Such sounds are unique in modern times as they have been unchanged for many decades. The project receives no funding and is not affiliated with any professional body or organisation and will run for as long as is possible in an effort to accumulate the whole country. If you are aware of a ringing bell not listed here which you feel should be included, please e-mail; bellsofscotland@gmail.com "The special sense of a town is formed in part for its inhabitants - and perhaps even in the memory of the traveller who has stayed there - by the timbre and intervals with which its tower-clocks begin to chime."
