Pecan Pie, Hamilton, Ohio by Be Here Stories | Stories from Main Street published on 2016-11-11T16:47:30Z This is pie country! Pecan, apple, and oh, so much more. "Pecan pie is passed down from generation to generation in my town, starting with great great grandmother to my grandmother to my aunt to mother to my wife and someday to my children, Pecan pie has been a popular one in my town. My grandma takes it to the Butler County fair every single year, and she usually wins the blue ribbon. If not, she usually wins for another pie that was passed down from another generation–something like strawberry-rhubarb pie, or apple pie, sometimes variations may include blackberry, blueberry-raspberry pies. But for the most part, it’s pies like pecan pie. This is a small town known as Trenton, Ohio. Love it. It’s small. It’s wonderful. It’s a great place to raise a family and to pass down recipes from generation to generation." Part of the "Stories from Main Street" project--an effort to collect stories about small-town life across the United States. The initial project was the brainchild of the Smithsonian's "Museum on Main Street" program, an initiative that brings traveling exhibitions about subjects of national importance to small towns across America. This content is also included in the "Be Here: Main Street" initiative.
