Newshour: Garrett McNamara on surfing a record-breaking 30 metre wave by BBC World Service Radio published on 2013/01/29 14:59:13 +0000 The photograph appears to show a man skiing down a mountainside. Except the mountain is made of water, and the man is on a surfboard. Surfing websites are asking whether Garrett McNamara has done what no man has done before and ridden a wave 100 feet -- or 30 metres -- tall. If so, McNamara will have beaten the world record he set in the same place -- off the coast of Nazare, Portugal, last year. He spoke to Newshour's Tim Franks.
