Newshour: What can we learn from a robot called Hitchbot hitchhiking across Canada? by BBC World Service Radio published on 2014/08/22 13:57:34 +0000 A robot has hitchhiked across Canada. Relying on human kindness the machine has traveled from Halifax on the east coast to Victoria on the west Coast. The journey of just over 6000 kilometers took about three and a half weeks. It was given the name Hichbot by its creators Dr. David Harris Smith, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies and Multimedia at McMaster University, and Dr. Frauke Zeller, Assistant Professor in the School of Professional Communication at Ryerson University. Along with Hitchbot they spoke to Newshour's Owen Bennett-Jones.
