Baz Laarakkers Baz Laarakkers Arnhem Baz’s music starts where Pop music ends and avant-garde music begins. Dark lonely melodies that flow and twist into monolithic sonic landscapes, sometimes big and bombastic and sometimes small and fragile. In July 2017 Baz graduated as Bachelor of music from the Academy for popular culture. The inspiration for his music comes from a myriad of sources, but they all seem to gravitate back to the natural/mythological world and the big processes that are part of the shaping of this natural/mythological world. During his live performances Laarakkers makes extensive use of his guitar, which he plays in both the conventional way and with more experimental guitar techniques…Aside from his guitar Baz uses more unconventional sound sources like wood, stone and bones to create an organic ambience that is almost ritualistic of nature. In July 2017 Baz graduated as Bachelor of music with the project Hêthan. With the Hêthan project he aimed to explore the mythological/natural cycle of birth/life/death/rebirth Resulting in an ambient/experimental live improvisation recording in the old St Jozef church in Arnhem. The resulting material is currently being mixed and mastered and will see it’s release in the beginning of 2018. During the later half of 2017 Baz will also participate in multiple projects in which he will be working in the role of musician and art director.
