30.07.10 - Beat A Max @ Hub [UK]
This time last year we hosted Mosquito Massala, a night of audio visual insanity!
Well Uri and minus-6 are back, this time with the added excellence of the BBC (Bay Beat Collective) and VJ Waner providing the visuals!
If you missed it last year, you missed out on a MASSIVE treat! It's too difficult to explain what'll happen, but I GUARANTEE it'll blow your mind!
Here's the press release from the boys with some further information...
“This collective of DJs and VJs may be from different cities around the world, but they still remain close friends, playing gigs and festivals across the globe and basically just having fun.”
BBC – Bay Beat Collective (India)
The Mumbai-based BBC (Bay Beat Collective) formed in response to the abundance of standard-issue Electronica so commonly heard in clubs and bars across the country. A DJ collective currently consisting of Kris Correya, (longtime resident DJ of Zenzi), Mumbai's most reputed club for experimental & underground music, Sohail Arora (DnB promoter & founder of KRUNK booking agency) & Raffael Kably (DJ & Sound Engineer), the BBC's passion lies in drum & bass, breaks, dubstep, glitch, funk and minimal sounds.
BBC explores new musical territories, with a partiality to "phat" bass-lines and high voltage grooves that are infectious and delicious. Recent BBC gigs at SUNBURN FESTIVAL 2009, Kris’s opening slot for Drum & Bass Pioneers London Elektricity, and a smashing Drum & Bass India Tour alongside LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad last month, have led them to a European Tour this summer.
VJ Waner – WAF Radio & TV (France)
Not only is he an accomplished DJ setting up his own internet radio station broadcasting to listeners around Paris, but Erwan Roy aka Waner has for the last two years been releasing his creative flair by taking on VJing, and has helped create and put together large-scale installations in clubs and festivals across France.
In the short time that Waner has been a VJ, he has secured residences at The Redline Parties in Paris and has supported various collectives across France, such as DJ Fly & The Scratch Bandit Crew for the Battle of the DJ’s 2009, The Galaticut Crew (Lyon) and Keep on Smiling Collective (KoS) from Paris, as well as providing Visuals for the WAF Radio Shows.
DJ Uri – Start from Scratch (UK & India)
DJ Uri has been in full flow since the early 1980’s. Influenced by the “Street Sounds Electro Compilations”, Uri has had a solid musical upbringing from an early age. His versatility and DJ skills allow him to switch from Glitch Hop and Dubstep to Breaks and Drum & Bass.
With an array of turntablist tricks, scratch techniques and multi-use of effects, Uri delivers more than your average DJ Set. A Leicester local with a solid DJ history in this city, he now plays regular gigs across the UK, France and India, and still has the same burning desire to drop the freshest and funkiest music.
Minus 6 – The Rowdy One (Leicester)
Nick Hutchins aka Minus-6 goes back to the old skool. Taken back by the Hip Hop movement in the late 1980’s, an old skool raver from back in the day, Nick has lived through the progression of dance music and DJ culture and remains true to the underground.
An accomplished DJ and Music producer, his passion lies with deep melodic Dubstep that will take you on a mystical journey. Expect a barrage of Heavy Bass Lines & Crunching Beats on a Dub flex. Electronic Bliss.
