Item 05: Sakawa [EP] by A Virtual Memory

The “Sakawa [EP]” represents a crossing point for this project from one era into another in terms of process and scope. This release was intended to be seen as an opportunity to experiment with different styles, mixes, and collaborations as a means of determining the next steps forward. As such, tracks 01, 04, and 06 are all original creations derived completely from field recordings collected by Mx. and myself [track 04 being further transformed by α Ori and his own original instrumentation]. Tracks 02 and 03 are both reworkings of “No Key/Access 1” by Anonymous Act. Track 05 is a reworking of two old songs by a band once called “FM.” As per tradition, all tracks are created in Audacity and all mixes are reconstructed solely from elements found in their original counterparts with absolutely no added external features of any kind. All credit is due to the original artists from whom these elements are taken.

A sincere thank you to Anonymous Act for contributing source material and inspiration for tracks 02 and 03 as well as α Ori for his invaluable role in shaping/warping tack 04 into its final form. Your collaborations have taken this project another step further in its evolution. Most of all thank you to N. for his ongoing advice and perspective and of course Mx. for her numerous talents and contributions in recording, performing, and critiquing every single aspect of what is created. You are light.
