Ghost of Nineteen Hundred and Something [disquiet0325] by Audio Obscura published on 2018-03-23T23:18:21Z A great challenge this week; "Make a forgery of an old jazz song by using samples from three Edison cylinders." (https://disquiet.com/2018/03/22/disquiet-junto-project-0325-fake-book/) This is pure hauntology! I thought of Leyland Kirby and those Caretaker records that have given so much joy over the years. I listened to each one and selected bits from all 3 I wanted to use. I opened opened up 'Simpler' in Ableton, played the nice piece with melody which opens the track on various keys. The 2 piece I detuned and put through some of the Amazing Spaces 'Outer Spaces' reverb Max for Live presets and messed these up a bit. The 3rd piece I selected two bits which I locked into looped sections and jived around on these elements for an hour or so till I liked some bits. I hit record and see what developed. That was about it really... Did some rough changes in arrangement mode and mixed it down.
