The Fountains of Xabulon 7 by Astral Truth Window published on 2018-10-30T09:22:27Z I made this in September 2018 at our home in Daylesford, while learning how to run multiple instances of Cabbage with Ardour. Cabbage is written by Rory Walsh and can run multiple Csound instances, each real-time rendering a .CSD file, with excellent real-time GUI control of variables within the Csound program, such as with on-screen knobs, sliders, switches etc. Ardour is a digital audio workstation program written primarily by Paul Davis, as is JACK, which does real-time connections between all the audio program running on a Linux machine. I think these four programs are brilliant - and I found it easy to make the real-time generative arrangement, the output of which you can hear here. A modified Casio M-10 portable keyboard plays a continual chord of pulsing sounds into MultiReverb.csd, the output of which is distorted by Powershape.csd, which drives the star of the show, FilterShaper.csd. These CSD files are Cabbage examples, written by Iain McCurdy. FilterShaper.csd pans and filters the signal using four rspline pseudo-random smooth signal generators. rspline is a Csound unit generator written by Gabriel Maldonado, one of the long-time Csound developers. To this I added feedback delays in Ardour. As with In Any Millennium, this version is processed so it sounds good on headphones, as well as loudspeakers.
