What The Cat Dragged In - Live in Studio Moskou by ArtBourbon published on 2018-04-10T18:52:23Z Free improvised instant compositions, recorded in a single session on March 7 2018 at Studio Moskou, Utrecht Engineered by Silvia Vermeulen and mixed by Jan Schellink WTCDI are: Jan Schellink: bass, guitar, drum pad, keyboard, trumpet, vocal and the instant composing machine Stuart Boardman: alto saxophone and clarinet Laugh, cry, dance, stick your fingers in your ears or maybe do all those things at once. The tracks are all improvised and at the same time each number develops its own recognizable patterns – rhythms and “melodies”. They’re one-off, never to be repeated instant-compositions. What makes the patterns happen is The Very Special Instant Composing Machine. Some numbers have a discernable structure pretty much from the beginning, even though nothing is pre-determined. Others develop more slowly. It’s a question of mood, inspiration and chance. Some of the tracks we’ve selected are complete from beginning to end, while others begin at the point where the composition has taken form. We thought that was the best way to give you a flavor of all the bizarre things our various influences, tastes (or lack thereof) and experience can lead to. This may help explain why, on the shorter numbers, there appear to be overdubs. There aren’t. What you hear is what we played.
