Receiving The Torah, an excerpt by arnie draiman published on 2018-10-17T08:10:29Z By Mendel Weinberger: Mindfulness is the practice of being present. It is a simple idea but not so easy to achieve. The mind is constantly pulling us to be elsewhere, either remembering the past or ruminating about the future, thinking about another place where we would rather be, judging the person talking to us or thinking about what we will say when they finish. Rarely are we present with what is going on right now. About Mendel I learned meditation in 1980 at the Zen Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After a year of intense practice, I left to pursue my interest in Judaism. This led me to learn in yeshiva in Israel for two years, marriage and family responsibilities. I renewed my interest and practice of meditation in 1997 after reading books by Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan, making sure that my practice adhered to Torah principles. I began teaching mindfulness to groups and individuals in 2015. I also help people with addictions, using mindfulness as a treatment modality that has been shown to be very beneficial to those on the path of recovery. I am married and live with my wife Chaya Sara in Jerusalem, Israel. To book a free consultation call 052-873-2733 or write to my email at mendelweinberger@gmail.com Genre Religion & Spirituality
