Land management includes agriculture, forestry, nature restoration, such as reviving native woodlands and connecting habitats, tree planting and peatland restoration for carbon sequestration and managing landscapes for certain outcomes or activities. This can be beneficial or harmful or sometimes a mixture of both to nature, climate, and local people. In this episode, we'll be getting an overview of Landscape Scale Land Management with Professor Pete Smith and Bruce Wilson. Pete Smith, fellow of the Royal Society is Professor of Soils and Global Change at the University of Aberdeen and Science Director of the Scottish Climate Change Centre of Expertise ClimateXChange. His interests include climate change mitigation, soils, agriculture, food systems, ecosystem service modelling, and nature-based solutions. Bruce Wilson is Head of Policy and Advocacy for the Scottish Wildlife Trust. Bruce has a background in land use policy and management, and studied at the Scottish Agricultural College. Bruce is particularly interested in ecological restoration within living landscapes, which embrace social, economic, and environmental function. Genre News & Politics
