Anthony Dupree
Wilmington, Delaware
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Anthony D. Walker, Jr. comes from a city where talent is scarce, crime emerges, and has a history of having young people hiding behind a desolate future. Since birth, Walker was ordained to be the destined one to place his family’s legacy on a platform of greatness. As a child growing up in church, he learned early about the power of faith and knew exactly what God had in store for him.
Throughout his early childhood, Walker began singing at the age of five and acting at the age of ten. All throughout his childhood he received praise on his talents by family and church members. With this support and love for performing for others, he knew that this was his calling. Walker has been an ardent member of many choirs in and out of the local assembly along the east coast.
Some of the most memorable and exciting moments were in 2007 when he got the opportunity to share the stage with such legends as Patti Labelle, Teddy Pendergrass, and Stephanie Mills during a celebration at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2008, Walker left the city of Wilmington to pursue higher education at The Virginia State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, with great future plans to construct and open his very own production studio company. While at Virginia State, Walker was a member of the highly regarded Virginia State University Gospel Chorale; where they got the opportunity to perform for the nationally televised Verizon Choir Competition “How Sweet the Sound” in Washington, D.C.
In 2011, Walker published his first novel titled, Imagine Me. The novel was a very intimate story on how families dealt with secrets and betrayal. In addition to being an author, Walker recorded a single titled, “You’re All I Need” which was recently picked up by BET and placed on one of the acclaimed Bet Hip-Hop Awards mixtapes.
Most recently, Walker began to pursue his acting career. He began his acting career in 2013 with the D Wiggins Entertainment Group of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, starring in the stage play production, Static. Then in 2014, Walker starred in the hit stage play production, Behind Closed Doors with the same production company; where he won two awards for Best Song Performance and Best Comedic Role. In the beginning of 2015, Walker toured on a national stage play production entitled, “Torn Between 2 Fathers”. In the production he played the role of ‘CJ’ (the son) and shared the stage with great legends such as Debbi Morgan, Clifton Powell, and Keith Washington to name a few.
Facing both individuality and adversity, Walker is reminded of the famous quote written by Frederick Douglas, “Without Struggle There Can Be No Progress.” Being a member of the prestigious Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Walker knows the importance of uplifting his community, uplifting humanity, and exemplifying good character .Growing up in a community full of disparity and poverty, Walker would just like to be an example to his community and inform them that dreams do come true, faith is real, and all things are possible through Christ. Walker wants to dedicate all of his future blessings and endeavors in regards to his career to the late Johnny L. Walker and the late Dr. Emma Burgess.
