The Savage Hearts are a twin fiddle driven bluegrass meets honky tonk band founded by original “Jeff Scroggins and Colorado” fiddler, Annie Savage. This southwestern bluegrass band also specializes in stage banter that could bring a tear to a glass eye (from crying or laughing to both at the same time) and has a passion for providing educational outreach. PLAYING IT FORWARD has a unique sound - an explosive mix of Bluegrass, Western Swing and Honky Tonk with twin fiddles and twin female vocals, a retro, fabulous grassy blend of Hank, Patsy, and Johnny with a powerful hit of Sriracha-inspired, Latin-flavored instrumentation and surprising dance-ability. Recorded at E Town, owned by Nick Forster of Hot Rize and produced by Savage and Slick, the CD features a mix of originals penned by Slick, standards, traditional songs and straight up honky-tonk tunes - with the spicy southwestern bluegrass sound for which THE SAVAGE HEARTS are becoming known, delivered with heart and integrity. THE SAVAGE HEARTS specialize in high energy performances and has a passion for providing educational outreach including workshops and jams filled with “Ah-ha” moments! Influences include the Bluegrass Album Band, Hot Rize, the Quebe Sisters, the twin fiddling of Bobby Hicks and Kenny Baker as well as the smoldering vocal styling of Patsy Cline and assorted other Route 66-bound female singers. Group members have recorded performed and produced more than 30 albums. The band strives to mentor their own students and fans through providing workshops and outreach wherever they roam. In addition to spicy live performances, the band directs the "Young Pickers" outreach program for the Colorado Bluegrass Music Society. Annie has also just released an instruction book called Join the Jam! a companion to her previously published Savage Fiddler Method book. PLAYING IT FORWARD includes songs from the Join the Jam! Book (a method of jamming for traditional string players) which allows readers to hear professional performances of those tracks.
