Angela Harris
North Vancouver
Award winner and multi-award nominee, Angela Harris was born in to musical family. Her love for Country, Folk and Bluegrass music began at the early age of nine when she began singing harmonies with her mother. She picked up the guitar and started writing songs in grade 8 and by graduation from high school, she was fronting her first band.
With a passion for songwriting and a burning desire to hone her craft, Harris ventured from her rural roots of the Chilcotin region of BC, Canada, to Nashville, TN for the first time in 1992. She lived and breathed the Nashville experience for the 10 years that followed, keeping a firm plant on her ever-evolving roots and building a network of fellow artists in that Mecca of country music singer/songwriters and beyond.
In the year 2000, she moved with her three daughters to Vancouver, BC in hot pursuit of a music career.
She's released three full-length albums - Angela Harris (2000), Roots (2006), Is Your Life as it Should Be (2009) - as well as two singles - Family Matters (2011), Lets Go For A Ride (2012) - winning her a BC Country Music Roots/Canadiana Award and several award nominations including a nod from the Western Canadian Music Awards for Outstanding Roots Album.
Her work has been licensed to film and received Top 10 chart status on the earshot! and Mediabase radio charts in the Country, Alternative Country, Folk/Roots/Blues formats.
She has toured in Canada, the US and the UK at major music festivals and venues such as the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival, Hugh's Room, and Dingwalls in London, England where she opened for Grammy Award winning songwriter Jackie DeShannon (Betty Davies Eyes, Put A Little Love In Your Heart, When You Walk in The Room).
When Harris is not on the road, in the studio, or songwriting, you can find her busy managing her new business Fair Wend Entertainment Services and living a content life with her family, nestled between the ocean and the north shore mountains where she loves to write, hike, kayak, ski, swim, picnic and walk the beach.
