Wooden Bridge Andy Hagen Guelph Wooden Bridge is Andrew Hagen and DJ Thomson of Guelph, Ontario. Andrew has always been moved by music. In high school and university he was a drummer for a few bands covering music by REM, Pearl Jam, Dave Mathews Band and more.After his first year of university, however, music was put on hold for well over a decade. The sudden death of his brother in 2013 sent him whirling, needing a place to deal with his emotions and providing a fresh perspective on life and dreams. Add to that his mother's sudden death in 2014, a trip to Texas with a visit to a prison and you get a large outpouring of songs about life, loss, children and more. Over the last two years, without hesitation, Andrew has re-entered the realm of live performance and has taken his emotionally driven acoustic based songs to open stages in the Guelph and surrounding areas where he met D.J Thomson who would join in on his fiddle. The first thing that you will know about D.J. is that he has a beard, a giant, fluffy, wild beard. D.J. has been teaching violin in music schools for 8 years and is a huge fan of everything involved with music. However, he started playing violin long before he had the beard and knows a thing or two about many musical styles, including classical, jazz, swing, pop, rock, celtic, bluegrass, ABBA (yes ABBA was their own style), or ugly yet fun sound effects. This made it easy for DJ to join in on any song at any time capturing the mood and adding tot he depth of the songs. Recently Andrew has purchased himself a little home recording workstation to record tunes for this project... there is a steep learning curve here but stay tuned for more!
