Amritha is a former journalist, current MBA student, and a singer/songwriter when she's not busy doing finance homework. She is a member of the dance pop group, Kuruvintam, along with Eric Vincent Thomas (See www.Kuruvintam.com).
She was classically trained in Indian dance and music, as she learned Bharatanatyam since the age of 6 and performed her arangetram, or dance debut, in Chennai, India at the age of 11. She learned dance from her mother, Mathura Alladi, a student of Smt. Kausalya of the Vazhuvoor Ramiah Pillai School. Amritha continues to dance and perform at various cultural shows and festivals. She also began the Gator Natyam team at the University of Florida.
Growing up, she also picked up American music by listening to pop stars Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Beyonce, and others, and she would often try to mimic their styles. Though she didn't perform these songs in public, she once competed in her high school's "idol" competition and placed second singing Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful."
Aside from music and dance, Amritha's other interest include international travel, the French language and culture, scrap-booking, tennis, reading and writing. It is her passion for writing that compelled her to pursue a career in journalism.
She earned her bachelor's degree in Journalism and Communications from the University of Florida in 2008, after which she completed two internships in India and then moved to Guam to work at the Pacific Daily News.
It was on Guam that Amritha and Eric met, and they shared a mutual interest for music and formed Kuruvintam.
Amritha now lives in Atlanta, Ga. and is pursuing an MBA in marketing at Emory University.
