Amo Joy is a psych-pop band from Indianapolis, IN comprised of three core members (Adam Gross, Steve Trowbridge and the late Paul Cobb) who all take on the roll of multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, while a revolving cast of musicians (James Furness, Ben Leslie, Guy Wolfing and Nic Letherman) participate respectively in recordings and live performances. Forming in 2007, Amo Joy started releasing albums and touring almost immediately. In addition to releasing several tour only EPs on Vinyl, Cassette and CD, in the past 5 years they have also released 4 full length albums: The Dictatorial Soiree (self released / CD), Theophrastus Bombastus (RRFR & PIAPTK / CD&Vinyl), The Sane Design (Standard Recording Co. / Vinyl), and Across Nycthemeron (Standard & PIAPTK / Vinyl&Cassette). These albums took Amo Joy coast to coast and border to border several times. Touring consistently 2-3 months a year and hitting major festivals such as SXSW and Athens Popfest proved fruitful for the band and brought them consistent fan-bases in multiple cities nationwide. In Amo Joy's first 2 albums, one could detect a strong Syd Barrett and Elephant 6-esque influence, but as time went by, they slowly started to shed the noted influence and came into being much more of their own band with their own sound. This new album is the best proof of that so far, with all past collaborators coming together to help make the most original and hard hitting Amo Joy album to date. Tracking for this album started on a 4 track reel to reel in the summer of 2011. Recording was moving along smoothly with final mixes projected to be done before the end of the year when tragedy struck the band and the recording process was halted. On October 2nd 2011, Amo Joy got news that founding member and bassist, Paul Cobb, had passed away as the result of a tragic accident. Upon hearing the news, Amo Joy, too disheartened to continue, shelved the album with little hope for completing it. However, after encouragement from their fans and Paul's family, Amo Joy decided to push forward and resumed recording in March of 2012, finishing the tracking and mixing of the album themselves in early June. It is evident now that the best way to honor Paul is to continue the band that he helped to create 5 years ago. Thus, Amo Joy has dedicated themselves to continue touring and releasing albums. Note that the songs contained herein have not yet been mastered and could possibly benefit from further mixing. We hope you enjoy!
